Yup, the Hormonal Housewives are coming back in the autumn!
I am so excited to be joining Julie again, and this time we have a new Hormonal Housewife too - Suzanne Shaw!
Touring with this show in the spring was amazing, so I am delighted to be doing it again. I could never quite get over the howling laughter we had every night from hundreds of women. There is something quite emotional about it actually. I think it is very rare to go to the theatre and have an audience that is 99% one gender. The noise of hundreds of women laughing is such a fabulous and contagious sound (I almost lost it a few times on stage, I wanted to join in with them!)
This show is a special beast in it's own right. It opened up conversations between the audience members, giving them the freedom to discuss their own experiences, lives and habits in a fun and safe place. We had SO many women come up to us after shows sharing their personal stories with us, which is a wonderful way of knowing that the show has done it's job. It has given these people an extraordinarily fun night, they've laughed a LOT, and they feel freer in themselves.
One audience member commented to me recently after seeing the show, that she couldn't believe how many people didn't go on their phones during the interval (she saw two) instead they were engaged in conversations, wiping the tears off their cheeks from where they had been laughing so much and just chatting with each other, whether they had arrived together or not. In a world where we tend to jump to our phones at every opportunity, what amazing feedback that was, we had sparked something in these women that meant they would rather talk to each other than bury themselves in their phones.
So am I excited to be touring again in the Autumn?
You bet I am!
